Country music legend Dolly Parton and pop icon Miley Cyrus have once again joined forces. This time, they’ve unveiled a fresh take on “Wrecking Ball,” set to feature on Parton’s upcoming album, “Rockstar.”
In an Instagram video, Parton shared her emotional response upon first hearing “Wrecking Ball,” likening it to her reaction to Whitney Houston‘s cover of “I Will Always Love You,” a song Parton penned herself. “When I heard ‘Wrecking Ball’ I was nearly moved to tears in my car. The chorus hit me like, well, a wrecking ball! I was blown away by the song and by Miley Cyrus’s performance,” she captioned the post. “I knew then that I had to include it on my rock album and that Miley had to join me on it! I love it and I hope you do too! ‘Wrecking Ball (feat. Miley Cyrus)’ is OUT NOW!”
In this rendition, the song begins as a piano ballad, with Parton delivering the first verse. Cyrus joins in for the chorus and takes the lead on the subsequent verse. The song concludes at a slower pace, transitioning into “I Will Always Love You,” one of Parton’s most renowned hits.
Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s Special Bond
To mark the song’s release, Cyrus also took to Instagram, posting pictures of herself with her Aunt Dolly. In one snapshot, the duo sport black ensembles with leopard print accents, while another image appears to be the cover of Parton’s forthcoming album, featuring her seated in a car, donned in black and gold.
“I’ve spent my life covering my Aunt Dolly’s music and it’s an honor to hear her sing one of my songs,” Cyrus wrote. “I love you, Aunt Dolly! I’m thrilled to add another collaboration to our bedazzled (studded leather) belt! We’re ROCKSTARS now! This record is filled with so much sweetness and love. Can’t wait to share it with everyone. Forever your Doll Baby, Miley.”
